Searchspace Opens Center for Advanced Research NJIT students get opportunity to work on intelligent systems Intelligent enterprise systems company Searchspace (London; www.searchspace.com) has announced the opening of an Advanced Research Center (ARC) headquartered near the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) (Newark, N.J.; www.njit.edu). This new center complements the ongoing research activities in Searchspace's London offices. This center will extend Searchspace's core research in intelligent enterprise systems. The areas of research at the ARC currently include advances in statistical pattern recognition technology and its use in business applications ranging from customer relationship management (CRM) to fraud detection in e-commerce. The center is also investigating how these pattern recognition methods are being applied to highly unstructured data such as Web content. "Searchspace's foundation is in leading edge research and our long-term growth depends upon maintaining our technological lead and continuing to innovate," said Konrad Feldman, Searchspace's U.S. CEO, "We continue to make substantial investments in our research activities and the establishment of this center provides us with an enhanced infrastructure for innovation, while simultaneously enabling us to build better ties with local educational and research institutions." An additional function of the ARC is to provide students with the opportunity to work on leading-edge projects. The ARC is managed by Michael Recce, who is the Head of Research at Searchspace in the United States. Dr. Recce is also a Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at the NJIT and was previously a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at University College London. He has published more than forty research studies and currently holds two patents. "Combining the talents of outstanding students and the resources of Searchspace to further the vision of the company in such a dynamic environment is an exciting opportunity for all of us," said Dr. Recce. "The research projects worked on will enable the company to remain at the forefront of technology, enhance our core technology infrastructure, and offer solutions to a wide range of new vertical markets."
