Ecole Centrale Paris (ECP) is one of the top three engineering schools ("Grandes Ecoles") in France. It recruits students with excellent analytical skills through a national competition after two years of intensive training in Science (mathematics, physics). It delivers an engineering degree at the Master of Science level. It also has a PhD program. ECP has a very good record in terms of academic research and has also strong connections with industry. It is affiliated with Paris-Sud 11 University, one of the top scientific universities in Europe. ECP is launching a "Chair" on Supply Chain Management (SCM) supported by six major companies: Carrefour (Retailer), Danone Group (Food industry), DHL (3PL), Gefco (3PL), PSA Peugeot-Citroën (Car manufacturer) and Vallourec (Steel tube manufacturer). The activities of this SCM Chair will include teaching, research and executive education. The scope of the chair covers SCM in its broad definition involving all business processes that contribute to an efficient organization of the production and distribution of products, from strategic to operational decisions. The SCM Chair team will consist of three full time members: a senior professor, a junior professor and a third member who will specifically focus its activity on executive education. The SCM Chair activities and its members will be part of the Industrial Engineering Department of ECP and in close connection with the existing group on SCM. The six companies are all world leaders in their sectors and will be strongly involved in the activities of the chair. This will offer the professors a unique and challenging environment by allowing them to have access to the top managers of these companies and to work on strategic topics in SCM such as SC design, SC planning, SC collaborations, outsourcing. Applicants for the Senior Professor position should have a doctorate and a strong record of high quality research in SCM/Operations management. They should also show evidence of teaching excellence as well as successful experiences working with industry. Strong communications ability, collegiality, and interpersonal skills are essential. Applicants must be prepared to assume the leadership role in the SCM Chair. Applicants for the Junior Professor position should have a doctorate and should have demonstrated a strong potential for performing high quality research in Supply Chain Management. Preliminary experience in teaching and industry collaborations would be highly appreciated. The applicants should be fluent in English. Fluency in French would be appreciated though not mandatory.
