The Department of Management Science & Innovation at University College London (UCL) invites applications for a Post Doctoral Fellowship position. The project will investigate different business models and R&D strategies of firms in the emergent regenerative medicine field, in which UCL is a world leader. The appointment may begin on or after April 1, 2010, and is for up to three years. Applicants should have a PhD or be near to completion.

University College London is one of the foremost research and teaching institutions in the world and is the flagship campus of the University of London. In the most recent ranking of the top 200 universities in the world, UCL was placed at number 4 (Times of London, 2009). The campus has 19,000 students and 4,000 academic staff in 58 departments. Academic staff or former students of UCL have won 20 Nobel Prizes.

The Department of Management Science and Innovation is the UCL partner in the growing strategic alliance between UCL and London Business School, capitalizing on research and educational synergies between these two world-class institutions. Several faculty members hold appointments between UCL and London Business School. The department has teaching responsibilities for management courses at the PhD, MSc and undergraduate levels, as well as in executive education programs.

The researcher will be involved in both the construction and analysis of a dataset on R&D activities in the regenerative medicine field and in qualitative case studies. He/she will also be expected to disseminate the project?s findings through articles in top-tier journals and international conferences.

Candidates should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Strategic Management, Organisational Behaviour, Management Science, Operations Management or a related discipline, preferably with an interest in research in the life sciences. Moreover, they should have experience in working with large datasets and in quantitative and modeling.

The salary attached to the postdoc position will be between £31,778 and £38,441 ($52,000 - $62,000), depending on experience.
