The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center's Safety Information Systems Division (http://www.volpe.dot.gov/) has several openings for Operations Research Analysts (ORA) to support consulting projects designed to assist clients in the development of functional, data management and information technology strategies and systems to meet critical transportation and safety requirements. The Division is the Center's focal point for aviation safety work sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and Department of Defense (DOD).

As an ORA you will plan, conduct and participate in multi-disciplinary research studies of transportation safety issues, including risk management, safety management systems and aviation safety assurance programs in order to support the definition, development, and enhancement of automated analysis and decision support tools to improve and measure the effectiveness of client safety, surveillance and information systems. You must have an advanced analytical and quantitative background in Operations Research. Information Systems and/or other technical knowledge, project management and superb problem solving skills are required. Team building, communications and presentation skills are a must. Experience in aviation or transportation fields is a plus. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Salary Range: $84,072.00 - 109,300.00 USD per year
