In memory of Richard E. Rosenthal, Naval Research Logistics will publish a special issue on "Operations Research for Military and Security Applications." Gerald G. Brown, Keebom Kang and Moshe Kress will serve as editors of the special issue.

Professor Rosenthal, who was editor in chief of Naval Research Logistics from 1989 through 2003, passed away on Jan. 3, 2008 (see page 66).

Papers should be submitted by or before Sep. 1, 2008, via http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/nrl by indicating a desire to be considered for the special issue in the cover letter. Papers should present advances in O.R. tools that are especially valuable in the analysis of military or security issues, or novel applications of O.R. tools to important problems in these areas.
