The Journal of Mathematical Modelling and Algorithms (JMMA), a new journal published by Kluwer, focuses on applicable, discrete mathematics where the research reported also contains a significant algorithmic component. Published papers have a strong mathematical foundation and are concerned with the development of mathematical models and solution techniques. Papers exploiting recent advances in computing applied to problems of a practical nature are particularly welcomed. Many of the accepted papers have described exact techniques, but some develop heuristic and metaheuristic methods, and these are welcome provided the mathematical modelling content is substantial.

Topics covered include: algorithmics, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, combinatorial optimisation, complexity, computational geometry, data structures, graph theory and algorithms, mathematical modelling, mathematical programming, metaheuristics, parallel and distributed systems, and signal processing.

The journal plans to achieve a relatively short turn-around between submission and acceptance/rejection, and between acceptance and publication. To facilitate speedy publication, final submissions must be sent in a Latex-style file.

Vic Rayward-Smith of the University of East Anglia serves as the editor in chief. Teodor Crainic of the University of Montreal serves as the North American editor.

The JMMA will publish one volume of six issue numbers per year. Each issue will contain 80 to 100 pages and comprise of four or five papers. The journal will be published electronically as well as in paper format.
