Waterloo Maple announced the formal launch of MapleNet, a new release that enables the rapid creation and delivery of online mathematics education. Prior to this release MapleNet was available to select academic institutions and content partners already engaged in innovative education initiatives.

MapleNet will help educational institutions offer dynamic, self-paced, asynchronous courses and exercises in distance and on-campus education. MapleNet is a suite of software tools that allow institutions to create dynamic "software learning objects" — i.e., specialized interactive teaching and learning applications — and deliver them over the Web. With such learning objects, students can explore complex mathematical concepts using a standard browser.
