The 17th Triennial Conference of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) will take place July 11-15 in Honolulu. The conference is being hosted by INFORMS. The conference Organizing and Program Committees together represent 17 countries and all five continents, bringing the research, applications and perspectives of their areas of the world to this truly international forum. Thirty-seven invited streams of papers have been organized and more than 1,300 invited and contributed abstracts received as of press time. A stream of tutorials is being organized by experts in their areas. In addition, the plenary address on Monday morning will be delivered by George Nemhauser from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. Several special issues of the International Transactions in Operations Research (ITOR) have been reserved for publication of papers presented at the conference. Participants are invited and encouraged to submit full papers to the journal. Papers on all areas presented at IFORS Hawaii 2005 are welcome. The guest editors for the special issues of ITOR are Professors Janny Leung (CUHK), Chris Tang (UCLA) and Stefan Voss (IWI-Hamburg). IFORS is pleased to continue the tradition of the IFORS Prize for OR in Development, to be awarded during the 2005 IFORS Triennial Conference. A grand prize of $2,000 and a runner-up prize of $1,000 are offered. Entries are automatically considered as formal submissions for publication in the International Transactions in Operational Research.
