OR/MS Today INFORMS News Posted: 10/8/03 WSC 03: Driving Innovation The Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) 2003 will be held Dec. 7-10 in New Orleans at the Grand Fairmont Hotel. We have chosen the theme "Driving Innovation" to signify the role of simulation in changing and improving our companies' and clients' futures. In a tradition that goes back more than 35 years, WSC 2003 (wintersim.org/) promises to be the premier forum for information on techniques, tools and trends in discrete-event and combined (discrete/continuous) simulation. The benefits of this global event include: learning how to apply simulation strategies successfully in mission-critical business applications; bringing back to your job success stories that help you sell simulation in your business; meeting leaders in the field and creating invaluable networking opportunities; and finding out how to use the latest simulation methodologies and industry-leading software. Whether you are new to simulation or a seasoned simulation practitioner, WSC 2003 has something to offer every attendee. The entire program is rich in simulation best practices and professional development tutorials. The conference is designed for professionals at several levels: analysts who apply quantitative methods in their work, managers who select and lead technical staff, and executives who need to understand how and when simulation methods are useful. For the newcomer, there are introductory and tutorial sessions teaching the concepts of simulation and highlighting the capabilities of simulation tools. On Sunday afternoon, vendor training sessions will demonstrate the simulation products, helping you decide which product best suits your application. For the experienced simulation expert, WSC 2003 provides an opportunity to share your knowledge with peers, collaborate on ideas, and gain insights into how others are using simulation in a variety of application areas. Stephen Shapiro, founder of the 24/7 Innovation Group and author of the book "24/7 Innovation," will deliver the plenary. James F. Dunnigan, a well-known author and military news analyst, will deliver the military keynote. |
