OR/MS Today INFORMS News Posted: 2/17/03 In Memoriam: Wallace Oles Keene Wallace Oles Keene, a longtime INFORMS member who founded Keene Ideas, a consulting firm in Derwood, Md., died Dec. 20, 2002. He was 62. Mr. Keene received a master's degree in business administration and operations research from American University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967, including tours in Vietnam. Mr. Keene launched a career in government in 1974 as an information officer and assistant to the deputy assistant secretary for finance in what is now known as the Department of Energy. In 1988, he transferred to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where he became chief information officer for its management analysis and systems office. From 1993 until retiring from the government in 1995, he worked for the Vice President's National Performance Review. In 1997, he founded Keene Ideas, a consulting firm specializing in reengineering.
