OR/MS Today INFORMS News Posted: 2/16/06 In Search of INFORMS Meetings Pins If you've ever attended an INFORMS meeting, you've no doubt seen or perhaps even worn one: a "pin" or "sticker" used to announce meetings, encourage voting, etc. At the most recent meeting in San Francisco, for example, multi-colored, blinking-light parrot pins served to promote the 2007 INFORMS International Meeting in Puerto Rico. Over the years, INFORMS (and ORSA and TIMS before that) meeting committees and assorted campaigns have generated dozens of such pins and stickers. Since these are a part of the Institute's "history" (just as campaign buttons are part of presidential election history), INFORMS has launched a campaign to collect all the pins and stickers it can find and mount them for display at its main headquarters. Vicki Sauter will serve as a collection point. If you have any old pins, stickers (even if they are on a badge), lapel pins or anything else similar with which you are willing to part, please send them to Sauter so they can be part of this collection. Also, be sure to spread the word to any colleagues you have who might have some INFORMS history sitting in their drawer or cabinet. Mail them to Sauter at: Vicki Sauter, Information Systems, 226 CCB, Mail Code 44, University of Missouri-St. Louis, One University Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63121-4400.
