OR/MS Today INFORMS News Posted: 2/16/06 Call for Papers: WSC 2006 The 2006 Winter Simulation Conference will be held Dec. 3-6 at the Portola Plaza Hotel in picturesque Monterey, Calif. Adjacent to Fisherman's Warf and downtown Monterey, the Portola Plaza is within walking distance of the famed Monterey Bay Aquarium and a short drive to Carmel, Calif., with its numerous shops and restaurants. The keynote speaker will be Professor Edward Lee of the University of California at Berkeley. Lee is a well-known researcher in the modeling and simulation field whose research interests center on design, modeling and simulation of embedded, real-time computational systems. He is a director of CHESS, the Berkeley Center for Hybrid and Embedded Software Systems, and is the director of the Berkeley Ptolemy project. WSC '06 features a comprehensive program ranging from introductory tutorials to state-of-the-art research and practice. The conference includes student presentations, exhibits, training sessions by software vendors, business meetings for professional societies and software user groups, a general reception and a spouse's program. Contributions to the technical program are solicited in the following general areas, although papers in all areas of discrete-event and combined discrete-event/continuous simulation will be considered:
Paper Deadlines and Requirements Poster Session and the Ph.D. Colloquium. Instructions, information and submission forms and procedures are available on the WSC Web site, www.wintersim.org. Important deadlines: April 3: Electronically submit contributed papers not previously published or presented. Each submission must be a 3-to-10-page paper, including an abstract of not more than 150 words. Submission implies that an author will attend WSC '06 to present the paper, and all clearance required for publication of the paper will be obtained by July 15. Use of one of the following formats is required: Microsoft Word or LaTeX. June 5: Contributors will be notified whether or not their paper has been accepted. July 15: Authors electronically provide a final manuscript meeting all requirements to the Proceedings editor. Sept. 15: Deadline to electronically submit abstracts for presentations in the Simulation Case Studies track (the submission form will be available Aug. 1), as well as electronic submission of abstracts for presentations in the Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium. Simulation Case Studies require involvement from an industrial sponsor.
