The first EURO/INFORMS Joint International Meeting of the new millennium will be held in Istanbul July 6-10, 2003. The conference has received more than a thousand abstract submissions and is still accepting submissions until May 1. All submitted abstracts can now be browsed through the conference Web site (www.istanbul2003.org; follow "submission" to "submitted abstracts").

The conference theme, "New Opportunities for Operations Research," highlights potential research directions for managing increasing complexity, dynamic behavior and uncertainty. Today, operations research faces significant theoretical and practical challenges posed for the sustainable development of a united world. Thus, a special focus will be placed upon "Medical Applications," "Financial Engineering" and "Crisis Management." The list of stimulating and challenging plenary, semi-plenary and tutorial sessions on a wide variety of topics is available on the Web (follow "highlights").
