INFORMS Begins Search for Executive Director
INFORMS is seeking an Executive Director to assume office upon retirement of the incumbent. The Institute has a 45-year history of achievement dating to the founding of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) and The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS), which merged in 1995 to create INFORMS.
Based in Maryland, and reporting to the executive committee of the board of directors, the Executive Director will lead the staff in its Maryland and Rhode Island locations. The Executive Director will work closely with board members and other active members of INFORMS.
The Executive Director will represent INFORMS at industrial, governmental and professional groups.
The individual we seek gained significant managerial experience with demonstrated accomplishments, as a staff member or volunteer, in a technical professional society. Experience in a mathematical or computer-related field, while desirable, is not essential.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated to help INFORMS continue building and innovating so as to serve the profession better. He or she will bring superior skills in leadership and management, writing and speaking, interpersonal relations and teamwork.
The planned retirement date for the incumbent is Aug. 1. INFORMS can offer the opportunity to come aboard earlier to assure a smooth transition.
