Software Quality Engineering
Papers are sought for the First International Conference on Software Quality
Engineering (SQE 97), May 5-7, 1997, in Udine, Italy -- the first in a planned
series designed to bring together scientists, engineers, academic professionals
and industrialists interested in software engineering quality and education.
Topics include software quality engineering issues such as design, methodologies,
CASE technology, testing and validation, software maintenance, application
experience and risk assessment; educational issues such as philosophy of
computer-based learning course design, teaching techniques and development
and industrial collaboration; choice of support software; and software engineering
issues such as innovative teaching schemes, human computer interfaces, natural
language understanding and processing, laboratory data visualization, specialist
teaching programs, and pattern and speech recognition.
Submit four copies of a draft paper (not more than 10 pages long in 12-point
type) by September 23, 1996, to Clare Shepherd, SQE 97 Conference Secretariat,
Wessex Institute of Technology, Ashurst Lodge, Ashurst, Southampton, U.K.

Educational Computing Conference
Original research papers (not published or submitted elsewhere) are sought
on the general theme of using technologies to enhance education for the
National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) to be held in Seattle,
Wash., June 30-July 2, 1997.
Papers that relate to teaching with computers, telecommunications, and other
technologies are encouraged. Topics include: Current/Emerging Technologies,
New Curriculum Designs, Improved Productivity/Adminstration, Technology
Implementation, Educational Reform, Broad Issues, New Organizational Structures.
Full papers should be submitted; accepted papers will be included in the
proceedings.

Special Issue of Systems Research
Systems Research will publish a special issue dedicated to the topic of
"Systems Science/Systems Approach and Information Systems Research"
in 1997. Submissions from both theoretical and applied studies are encouraged
for consideration for publication in this special issue.
Two kinds of articles are sought:
Surveys or reviews of the application of systems science/systems approach
to information systems. Such articles should have extensive references to
widely available published works.
Articles that describe a specific application of systems science/systems
approach to information systems. These articles should describe both the
techniques and the area in which they are being applied, and the references
should allow the interested reader to follow-up on both.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to: systems science/systems
approach and information systems; systems science and artificial intelligence;
systems approach and software engineering; systems approach and object-oriented
analysis and design.
Interested authors should submit four copies (hard copy) of their article
by Dec. 15, 1996, to Dr. Li D. Xu, Department of MSIS, Wright State University,
Dayton, OH 45435, USA; phone: (513) 873-2890; fax: (513) 873-3301; E-mail:

Games and Nonlinear Dynamics -- Theory and Application in Economics and
OR/MS, to be held May 21-23, 1997. Topics of interest include optimal control
theory, dynamic programming, differential games, evolutionary games, learning,
economic modeling, chaos theory, complex systems and related fields.
