![]() August 1998 Call For Papers International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management Special Issue Papers are sought for a special issue on "The Management of Quality in Project Environments" for the International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management. Strategic frameworks, empirical research, conceptual and analytical models, and case studies focusing on improving the management of quality in projects are especially encouraged. Contributed papers may deal with, but are not limited to: Quality tools and techniques for capturing customer requirements; Planning and organizing for quality; Project quality information management systems; Design and development of quality performance management systems; Methodologies for benchmarking project performance; Implementation of quality assurance; Strategies for continuous improvement and learning in projects; Rework and waste minimization; Human aspects of quality; and Total quality management practices and areas of application. Taking into account the need for a quality focus in projects, this special issue has been proposed with an objective to gain insights into how quality is managed in different project environments, and what the emerging trends are for managing quality issues in various project-based industries. Research surveys and application papers are welcome. Manuscripts should not exceed 25 double-spaced pages including figures and illustrations. All contributions are subjected to a double-blind review process. There should be a separate title page giving the names and addresses of the authors. All other references that reveal the author¹s identity should be removed. Four copies of the manuscript, following the standard guidelines for the International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, should be mailed to one of the guest co-editors by Jan. 31, 1999. Guest co-editors for the special issue are: Dr. A. Gunasekaran, Department of Manufacturing and Engineering Systems, Brunel University, Uxbridge, Middlesex UB8 3PH, UK; Phone: +44 1895 274 000, Ext. 2634; Fax: +44 1895 812 556; E-mail: emstagu @brunel.ac.uk; URL: http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~emstagu/; and Peter E.D. Yet many developments in theory, algorithms and applications have appeared during this time period. It is the purpose of this special issue to provide both an update and a focused forum for the latest work in the field. By doing so it is hoped that this powerful methodology will be brought to the attention of others who have to deal with complicated nonlinear functions in the modeling of engineering, managerial, economic and physical phenomena. Papers are sought on all aspects of geometric programming and its generalizations including: prototype (posynomial) geometric programs; signomial programs; entropy optimization problems; convex generalizations and nonconvex generalizations; and applications of the above. All submissions will undergo the usual rigorous review process associated with the Annals of OR series. Authors should declare their intent to submit a paper by Jan. 1, 1999. Completed papers are due by June 30, 1999. The editors of this issue are: Carlton Scott, Graduate School of Management, University of California Irvine, Calif., 92697; E-mail: chscott@uci.edu; and Shu-Cherng Fang, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, North Carolina State University, Box 7906 Raleigh, NC 27695; E-mail: fang@eos.ncsu.edu.
