Posted January 15, 2002 Manufacturing News Axcelis to use Manugistics' SRM for Component Management System Manugistics Group (Rockville, Md.; www.manugistics.com), supply chain management solutions vendor, reported Axcelis Technologies (Beverly, Mass.; www.axcelis.com), solutions manufacturer for the semiconductor industry, will use Manugistics' supplier relationship management (SRM) solution to create an advanced component management system. Axcelis has chosen Manugistics NetWORKS Component Management to standardize Axcelis' component database, rationalize data across several existing databases, and create a common automated part-entry system that can help engineers and procurement personnel more rapidly select and acquire component direct materials. The solution should minimize duplicate part numbers, reduce inventories, and increase design iterations. Last year Manugistics acquired the collaborative sourcing and design business from PartMiner (Melville, N.Y.; www.partminer.com), expanding the vendor's SRM technology footprint. Manugistics chairman and CEO Greg Owens says, "We will continue to focus on solution development - and future partnerships and acquisitions - that enable us to target the direct material business processes that can most positively impact our clients."
