Posted January 15, 2002 Manufacturing News Magnetic Solutions Visibility and Profitability Increased with QAD Magnetic Solutions (Dublin, Ireland; www.magnetic-solutions.com) develops a process solution for making MRAM chips, considered key technology for the semiconductor industry. Magnetic Solutions chose to implement MFG/PRO eB, the latest version of QAD's (Carpinteria, Calif.; www.qad.com) flagship enterprise resources planning (ERP) software. Two modules of the solution were implemented by Magnetic Solutions: Service/Support Management (SSM) and Project Realization Management (PRM). The implementation was completed in September 2001, and the manufacturer reports it is on-track to realize a 100-percent return-on-investment in less than 18 months. According to Niall O'Kelly, chief financial officer of Magnetic Solutions, "Innovative modules like SSM and PRM allow us to accurately track costs and revenues associated with each project with minimum overhead. If we were to factor in the cost-savings associated with redeploying our current workforce from manual processes to more productive areas such as customer support, the payback would be even faster."
