Unifi Taps IPNet to Connect Partners, Reduce Costs

IPNet Solutions Inc. (Newport Beach, Calif.; www.ipnetsolutions.com) announced that Unifi Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.; www.unifi-inc.com), the world's largest producer and processor of textured yarns, has chosen IPNet eBizness Transact to connect its many customers and suppliers.
In addition to eliminating costs, eBizness Transact becomes a key component of Fyberserv, Unifi's suite of e-business applications. Inclusion of Web-based EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) allows Unifi to exchange information with its partners in real-time. "It's not practical to think that all of Unifi's partners will install IPNet on their end as well. The advantage for Unifi is that it's not necessary," said Ted Smykla, senior vice president of products, IPNet. "Unlike proprietary systems, the openness and flexibility of eBizness Transact enables Unifi to interact with a variety of disparate systems from e-mail systems to VANs."
eBizness Transact will allow Unifi's partners to communicate via any standard browser or transport protocol including VAN, Internet, FTP, SMTP, HTTP and HTTP/S. IPNet's e-business solution will make it possible for Unifi to quickly and seamlessly exchange data with its entire supplier base, while supporting AS1/AS2 security standards. Transact provides interoperability between the various IT infrastructures and support for multiple data types, communications protocols and security mechanisms.
