Week of January 11, 1999 Manufacturing News Cooper Tire Selects RHYTHM Solution Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (www.coopertire.com), a manufacturer of rubber products for consumers, has signed an agreement to purchase the RHYTHM supply chain optimization software from i2 Technologies (Irving, Tex.; www.i2.com). The purchase includes software for scheduling production at four Cooper tire plants, including Texarkana, Ark.; Albany, Ga.; Tupelo, Miss.; and Findlay, Ohio. RHYTHM's genetic algorithm technology will help Cooper Tire increase its inventory effectiveness and improve customer service. RHYTHM will also be used to help increase manufacturing flexibility and overall productivity by balancing production across all of Cooper Tire's manufacturing operations.
