IDC study names Oracle #1 in global internet procurement applications

Oracle Corp. (www.oracle.com) recently announced that analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) (www.idc.com) has determined Oracle is the world's No. 1 vendor of Internet procurement software. IDC based its findings on analysis of vendor financial statements, census interviews and public information.
"Oracle was impressive in its performance in the eCommerce procurement applications market last year and I expect they will have another banner year in 2000 by leveraging their expertise in database software and supply-chain automation," said Albert Pang, eCommerce software research manager at IDC who authored the report "eCommerce Software Applications Market Forecast & Analysis, 2000-2004.
According to IDC, Oracle held 9.9 percent of the Internet Procurement market share in 1999, with no other vendor in the top five holding more than 5.3 percent. Oracle Internet procurement revenue grew from $4 million in 1998 to $76 million in 1999.
IDC also recognized Oracle as a leading force in the e-commerce applications software market in 1999, of which Internet procurement was a part. IDC notes that Oracle is well positioned for the future in the e-commerce application space with its strong capabilities in supply chain automation and in the emerging B2B space.
