Unigraphics Teams Up With Adaptive Media

Unigraphics Solutions (St. Louis, Mo.; www.ugsolutions.com), a provider of CAD/CAM/CAE/PDM software, and Adaptive Media Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.; www.adaptivemedia.com), a supplier of on-demand visual software solutions, have formed a strategic partnership to deliver Web-based product data access to Unigraphics customers.
Using Adaptive Media's Envision3D streaming technology, the two companies plan to deliver a 20-30 times performance improvement in accessing 3D product data over intranet and extranet networks. This IP network technology allows design assets to be shared among departments, customers and vendors.
The two companies will cooperate to produce an integrated set of products that will provide integrated and feature-rich solutions for engineering collaborations. The products will be sold by Unigraphics under the Unigraphics brand name.
The first product, scheduled to ship in fall 1998, will allow rapid publishing of Unigraphics product data that can be streamed to standard desktop systems. Associated non-geometric data will be integrated and available in a simple, integrated Web browser environment. Annotations, viewpoints and navigation paths will be created and shared among users within the enterprise and with suppliers.
