Posted December 19, 2001 Manufacturing News Manugistics Sells Supplier Relationship Management Solution to Axcelis Manugistics Group, Inc. (Rockville, Md.; www.manugistics.com) provider of Enterprise Profit Optimization (EPO) solutions, announced that Axcelis Technologies, Inc. (Beverly, Mass.; www.axcelis.com), manufacturer of high-productivity solutions for the semiconductor industry, will use a Manugistics Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) solution to create an advanced component management system. Axcelis has chosen Manugistics NetWORKS Component Management to help the company standardize its component database, rationalize data across several existing databases, and create a common, comprehensive automated part-entry system to help engineers and procurement personnel select and acquire component direct materials. The solution enables Axcelis to decrease cycle times, minimize duplicate part numbers, reduce inventories, improve supplier management, and increase design iterations. Earlier this year, Manugistics acquired the collaborative sourcing and design (CSD) business from PartMiner, Inc. (Melville, N.Y.; www.partminer.com), expanding the company's SRM technology footprint. Manugistics created a CSD-powered solution, now called Manugistics NetWORKS Component Management, that enabled manufacturing enterprises to improve product design and sourcing through better selection, analysis and management of direct materials and suppliers.
