Week of December 21, 1998 Manufacturing News APTOS Installs Camstar's MESA For Semiconductor Production APTOS (Milpitas, Calif.; www.aptoscorp.com), a supplier of wafer bumping fab and manufacturing, has selected the MESA manufacturing execution system (MES) from Camstar Systems (Campbell, Calif.; www.camstar.com). MESA will control and track the flow of product as customer orders move through the APTOS production facility. APTOS' bumping services are used primarily in the production of small-footprint semiconductor devices that are used in electronic products, such as portable computers and digital video cameras, where physical space is at a premium. The new Camstar system will provide APTOS with real-time status of customers' work-in-process, and will allow APTOS to fine-tune its production processes, improving product yields and increasing overall operating efficiency.
