Week of January 5, 1998 New Products NuEngineer and NuSearch NuEngineer enables users to create and analyze hundreds of new engineering/CAD designs in minutes. Users work with a visual interface to intelligently choose the hundreds of new designs to search through from an infinite number of possible new designs. With NuEngineer, engineers go from designing parts to designing methodologies which design parts. They start reasoning about how they search for designs instead of reasoning about single designs. In the fields of knowledge-based engineering and artificial intelligence, this is referred to as meta-reasoning. NuSearch makes the meta-reasoning tools of NuEngineer available to many new application packages. It can be integrated directly with almost any existing CAD package and thus legacy CAD data. NuSearch can be integrated with other engineering applications, such as simulations, spreadsheet tools, electronic circuit design, control algorithm design, CAM, and other manufacturing analysis and design tools. It utilizes heuristic search and genetic algorithm technologies.
