With the open digital mockup architecture, designers and engineers are able to perform digital assembly tests, simulations, visualizations and data communications, regardless of which CAD system they are using. The goal is for manufacturers to increase design process accuracy, even in the early construction phases. The software's concurrent engineering capabilities over the Internet/intranet make it possible for a manufacturer to have access to the product structure from any location, and to test the construction for accuracy. The desired product structure is processed in a browser, which is integrated platform-independently into Netscape as a Java applet.
