Posted March 4, 2002 New Products E-T-A 1180 Thermal Circuit Breaker E-T-A Circuit Breakers (Mount Prospect, Ill.; www.e-t-a.com) has introduced the E-T-A 1180 Thermal Circuit Breaker for Equipment (CBE), a miniaturised plug-in circuit breaker with combined switch functionality. Designed to reduce downtime in process control and automation applications, the product provides re-settable replacements for blade fuses and is conveniently installed by means of a complementary purpose designed terminal block system. The Thermal CBE is an attractively styled plug-in device designed for voltage ratings up to 250V AC or 65V DC. The tripped/off position is clearly indicated by the push button actuator with optional press on/off operation. Instead of having to identify which fuse is blown and then trying to locate a suitable replacement, the button on the 1180 is pressed to instantly re-energise the circuit. The CBE is also designed to avoid tripping from short-term surges or transients, caused, for example, by motor start-ups. E-T-A is also offering a DIN-rail terminal block mounting system for the 1180, complete with insulation barriers, labels and a bus bar for connection of a common supply for up to 10 devices.
