Posted January 15, 2002 New Products ESI Group Introduces PAM-OPT ESI Group (Paris; www.esi-group.com) announced the availability of PAM-OPT, which automates the trial and error process of design and manufacturing optimization. In a conventional approach engineers use simulation or analysis software to check the performance of a design, analyze results, make decisions, modify the model and re-check the design until an optimal solution is reached. PAM-OPT automates this loop, handling the decision-making and job submissions processing on a network of computers. PAM-OPT is well adapted to non-linear outputs encountered with ESI Group's simulation packages. PAM-OPT's optimization process cannot diverge and obtains fast results, as it requires only a limited number of solver calls. An advanced post-processing graphical interface helps users analyze the global optimization results, and display intermediate output through multiple data modes.
