March 23, 1998 New Products IntelliCAD 98 Visio Corp. (Seattle, Wash.; www.visio.com) has introduced IntelliCAD 98, a 32-bit Windows-based CAD application that offers compatibility with AutoCAD files, commands and applications. It features Multiple Document Interface for editing multiple drawings simultaneously, Microsoft ActiveX in-place editing capabilities (as both a server and a client), and the Drawing Explorer, an intuitive tools for managing drawing layers, line types and blocks. While maintaining compatibility with legacy data and applications, IntelliCAD 98 also includes a preview implementation of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), a visual menu editor for customization of AutoCAD-compatible menu structures, a Script Recorder that captures the user's actions for automated replay and a drag-and-drop button bar editor that creates fly-out structures on toolbars. IntelliCAD also includes such features as context-sensitive right-click editing of selected entities, photorealistic ray-traced rendering and enhanced plotter device support.
