OAenterprise 98

ObjectAutomation (Santa Ana, Calif.; www.oa.com ) has introduced its
OAenterprise 98 software family designed to be a universal, object-based
control system, serving discrete, process, batch, motion control, numerical
control, and building automation applications. OAenterprise 98 includes
four tightly integrated modules: OA2control, OA2view, OA2alarms and
OA2history.
OA2control is a control engine/editor combination that integrates fully
into the OA object model, facilitating rapid development and deployment of
control systems. Engine options include Windows NT-based soft control,
VenturCom's deterministic RTX-based hard control, and highly distributed
embedded control.
OA2view is a human-machine interface that provides a way to configure an
entire control strategy, with drag-and-drop, connect-the-points-and-run
graphical tools.
OA2alarms is a server-based alarm manager and client-side display agent.
Every OAenterprise object can have any of its attributes tagged as an alarm
generator. These alarms travel with the object and the system assures
notification gets to the right places at the right time anywhere in the
OAenterprise.
OA2history is a distributed historian that offers a way to move data from
repository to repository, even to offline storage locations, all
automatically. With multiple, distributed vaults and an abstract "get
history" request, gaps in data from one vault can be seamlessly and
transparently filled with data from another, even if the storage formats
are different.
