Week of July 13, 1998 New Products LPAVision LPAVision 1.0 from LPA Software Inc. (Rochester, N.Y.; www.lpa.com) is a supply chain software solution that features native Windows compliance, a thin-client architecture, Internet-enabled forecasting and outsourcing, support for "de-manufacturing" and variable bill of material logic Users can initiate the inventory planning process with a remote forecasting tool over the Internet, run the LPAVision planning engine on the home server, and then send out requests for orders to vendors over the Internet. For the back end of the planning process, and after forecasting and planning are complete, LPAVision provides a component called LPABidNet. This component allows users to send out requests for bidding over the Internet. Candidate vendors can then reply to a secure site. Based on the customer, the system determines who gets the contract, configures the rules that reflect corporate priorities and updates the planning system and the supplier.
