Week of September 14, 1998 New Products AIMS JBA International (Rolling Meadows, Ill.; www.jbaworld.com), a vendor of integrated ERP software products, has introduced Advanced Information Management Solutions (AIMS), a collection of tools and applications that span the range of business intelligence technologies. Closely integrated into the open-systems architecture of System 21, AIMS provides a product portfolio that includes IQ Objects, a graphical reporting system; JBA Envisage, an online data access and analysis tool; and IQ Vision, a tool that provides unconstrained analysis of multiple business dimensions. IQ Objects is a graphical reporting system that provides business users a Microsoft Windows interface to multiple databases. It allows users to create and store reusable SmartObjects encapsulating both data and application logic. Users create queries by dragging objects contained in their business views and dropping them into the query designer. By combining SmartObjects in the query designer, multiple queries can be generated and executed in a single user request. JBA Envisage allows managers to analyze problems and investigate what-if scenarios in a graphical analysis environment. Graphs can be dynamically attached to the underlying transactional data in System 21 applications so that the user can drill-down through point-and-click techniques. IQ Vision provides dynamic, multi-dimensional and drill-down data analysis through OLAP (on-line analytical processing) technology. Users can slice and dice information beginning with high-level summary information and drilling down to more specific levels of detail.
