InSite

InSite from Camstar Systems Inc. (Campbell, Calif.; www.camstar.com) is a Windows NT-based manufacturing execution system (MES) application platform, designed to fill the gap between plant floor operations and enterprise-wide applications such as supply chain management, advanced planning and scheduling, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Built on the Windows DNA for Manufacturing framework, InSite collects and organizes data from multiple sources on the plant floor, provides control over critical manufacturing resources, and connects the plant to the enterprise with real-time visibility into plant operations.
InSite addresses the problems faced by IT and plant personnel who want to integrate their plants into the enterprise information system: how to deliver local plant systems that connect to the enterprise, satisfy the diverse configuration and integration needs of each plant, and support a standard application across multiple plants.
InSite's Factory Information Model supports the ability to model complex workflows within the factory; track work-in-process for products with multiple levels and multiple units of measure; handle discrete, batch, or process manufacturing; and attach data collection for quality or parametric data at any point in the manufacturing process. The system can capture production and quality data based on product-centric or resource-centric views, and concurrently manages multiple changes or revisions in the manufacturing process that include revision management for products, routings, specifications, instructions, and data collection.
