Week of January 8, 1999 New Products xtr@ xtr@ from Numetrix (Toronto, Ont., Canada; www.numetrix.com) is a software product designed to optimize the total supply/demand network for extended enterprises and entire industry sectors via the Internet. Using the Internet as a channel for low-cost information exchange, xtr@ delivers real-time business processes such as sales and operations planning; vendor managed inventory; available to promise and capable to promise. Each of these processes allows for optimized, enterprise-wide collaboration among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers. xtr@ is dynamic, message-aware software that can both send and receive messages between users and systems while preserving application and data integrity. It can provide each user with information updates in real time while indicating the relevant problems that users should address. Problems along the supply/demand chain are brought to the individual's attention so users do not need to poll or query the server to identify "hot spots" themselves. xtr@ makes use of a system that distributes data locally. This approach allows users to read data at any time from their fast local area network (LAN), yet preserves bandwidth and processing power on the wide area network (WAN).
