Best '95 Conference Speakers Chosen in Orlando
The best conference speakers were selected and honored at the 1995 APICS International Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., for the first time in APICS' history. Because new technology allowed APICS to analyze session evaluations during the conference, the best speakers in several categories could be honored at the Imagineers Breakfast Celebration on Friday, Oct. 27. The speakers, their categories and work telephone numbers are as follows:

39th International Conference Set for New Orleans
New Orleans will be the host of APICS '96, the 1996 APICS International Conference and Exhibition, from Oct. 13-17, 1996. Attendees will have dozens of hard-hitting sessions and workshops to choose from, and more than 150 of the industry's leading suppliers will be on hand with solutions to a wide range of business problems. As previously announced, Fran Tarkenton, legendary football great and renowned entrepreneur, is the first confirmed keynote speaker at APICS '96. Additional keynote speakers and events will be announced soon.
Berry's achievements started more than four years ago in Alabama. In 1991, Berry won the "Member Get a Member" contest. In the spring of 1992, Berry discovered the APICS Central Montgomery Chapter was inactive but still carried 43 active members on its roster. Berry revived the chapter and won a membership award for his efforts. Then, in 1993, Berry began working in Mississippi and spearheaded the effort to recruit new members and restore the APICS Gumtree Chapter. The result was an increase in membership from 46 to 105.
While working at Scruggs and Associates as a manufacturing consultant and retaining his membership in the U.S. Coast Guard, Berry attended region meetings, started certification review courses, volunteered to teach a Train the Trainer course and attended dinner meetings regularly.
"My goals have been directed to increasing the productivity of my associates and fellow APICS members through incremental improvement in knowledge and understanding of the APICS body of knowledge," Berry wrote in his acceptance of the nomination for the 1995 Voluntary Service Award.

List of APICS Chapter Certification Review Courses Now Available
To assist certification candidates in finding out more about Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and CIRM review courses offered in their areas, the APICS Education Department has compiled a listing of chapter certification review courses along with a contact name and phone number for each. CPIM Expiration Dates
Beginning in 1996, CPIM candidates must complete certification within three years of their first exam date or their exams will begin to expire on a rolling basis. For example, a candidate who takes the first exam in January 1996, must achieve CPIM on, or before the same date in January 1999. If not, the exam taken in January 1996 becomes invalid and must be retaken.
Candidates who began the CPIM process before January 1996, but who have not yet become certified, have until January 1999 to become certified. If not, the exams taken before January 1996 will also become invalid and must be retaken. For further information, contact Herry Hernandez of the APICS Education Department at (800) 444-2742 or (703) 237-8344, ext. 274.

To provide our attendees with the highest level of education, the 1996 conference committee has adopted a bold new way of developing the educational program. In keeping with the theme for APICS '96, "Harmonizing Business Solutions," the committee implemented an internal process for building the education matrix.
Instead of issuing a call for papers, the committee and its advisers will first design a program that responds to customer requests and then select presenters keyed to this program outline. Presenters will be chosen on the basis of specific expertise, past evaluations, name recognition in the industry and applicability to the conference theme. Speakers identified through this process will be contacted by the committee.
Anyone who wishes to be an educational session presenter at APICS '96 should forward a biographical sketch and list of topics to me at the following address:
